from Trails Day at Bingham Lake
June 2, 2001
With a little wind and a lot of sun shining on the backdrop of Bingham Lake, residents of the Pinery neighborhoods worked and celebrated National Trails Day on Saturday, June 2, 2001. The purpose of this gathering was to lend sweat equity for a plan to build a trail around Bingham Lake and to help enhance the new trailhead. Activities included planting trees, shrubs and flowers. Douglas County Parks and Trails division employees, lead by director Ron Benson, coordinated the day’s activities with great skill and patience. This day was to turn out to be one of the best National Trails Day events that the Douglas County Parks Department has ever participated in. Our thanks to Jonathan Scherer for the great photos! For more information on this great day, see the July 2001 Newsletter.
