Danger! Thin Ice on Bingham Lake
Douglas County has received reports of unsupervised children playing on the ice at Bingham Lake. This is very dangerous. While the ice may appear to be sound, because of the constant temperature changes and the effects of sunshine on the structure of the ice, it never really "sets" long enough to be able to support the weight of a person on it. This also applies to children. We ask that you, your children and your guests be mindful of this. Please heed warnings and posted regulations on the use of the lake for safety’s sake. |
Douglas County "Reverse 911" System
Douglas County Emergency Telephone Service has the ability to contact all residents in Douglas County through a “reverse 911” system. Land lines are typically used for emergency notification. If you want to add additional numbers or specific information, you can go to the website at www.dcsheriff.net , go to Citizen Alert Notification, go to Sign up or Manage Your Profile to add your preferred information.
Rabies Alert!
We have been notified that rabies is increasing in wildlife along Colorado's Front Range, placing both humans and animals at risk for this deadly disease. All pets should be vaccinated for their safety and for yours. See www.tchd.org for additional information.

Roof Replacement Needed?
Many residents have experienced damage to their roof due to recent hailstorms. If you need to replace your roof and are using the same material that was previously submitted and approved by the Architectural Review Committee with no change, that would be considered maintenance. In this case, submittal to the ARC is not needed at this time.
If you are unsure of the status of your existing roof, please call our office – 303-841-5305. If we have your name, address and phone number, we can get back to you with the information we have in our files. In some cases, insurance adjustors have estimated replacement using a lower grade of roof than was actually installed in the past and we would be happy to provide copies of approval letters in this event. We have electronic records going back to 1999 for roof replacements.
Approved roofs can be found on our Approved Materials List. All changes must be submitted so that approval status can be certified and recorded.
To submit a replacement / change to your existing roof, please provide the following information:
* Your Name
* Your Address
* Roof Manufacturer
* Style
* Warranty
* Color Name
This can be sent by mail, E-mail (PineryARC@comcast.net) or fax 303-841-5444.
Once received, our office will ascertain the status of the roof and the color selected. You will be notified of the pre-approval status and can proceed at that point. You will also receive an approval letter for your files.
Please be advised that signage prior to and after installation of the roof is prohibited by Protective Covenants.
If you have questions, please call 303-841-5305.

A Letter From the Douglas County
Sheriff
Dear Douglas County Neighbor:
As your Sheriff, I would like to inform you of certain criminal
activities that are occurring throughout Douglas County.
The most common type of burglary that we are seeing in Douglas County are
burglaries associated with open garage doors or doors at a residence that are
not locked or secured. The suspects in these incidents targeted these homes
because of convenience and opportunity.
These types of burglaries can be deterred and even prevented by
closing garage doors, even when at home. Vehicles that are parked inside of your
garage or on your driveway should be locked and all valuables should be removed.
We are asking residents to be our eyes and ears and report any suspicious
activity immediately (303) 660-7500 for non-emergency and 911 for
emergencies.
I encourage you as residents of Douglas County to establish
Neighborhood Watch blocks in your area. Programs such as this allow Douglas
County citizens and Sheriff’s Office personnel to work together in partnership,
thus deterring and solving crime within the county.
For more information about Neighborhood Watch and to receive a
Neighborhood Watch Start Up Packet, please contact Deputy Cocha Heyden or Deputy
Ron Hanavan at (303) 660-7544 or look on our web page at
www.dcsheriff.net
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office takes all crime in Douglas
County seriously. We actively and aggressively pursue those that victimize our
residents and visitors of our community. An example of our diligence is shown in
an arrest that occurred in December of a suspect that was responsible for 11
burglaries throughout the county. This suspect targeted unoccupied homes.
As your Sheriff, I strongly believe that building relationships
with the community allows the Sheriff’s Office to become more effective in our
commitment to building a safer stronger community.
David A. Weaver
Sheriff of Douglas County

Information on the RV Storage Lot is available on the

Greenbelts – Please
No Motorized Vehicles!
Off-road motorized use of any open space
within Douglas County is prohibited. The greenbelts in the Pinery are to be used
‘gently’ for walking and enjoying wildlife if the natural environment is to be
maintained. Use of motorbikes and ATVs within these areas destroys vegetation
and the enjoyment of others. Please be considerate and make sure you use these
vehicles only in areas designated for such use.
Coyotes - Concern For Area Pets.
As note to new and old residents alike, we’d like to
remind you that although a lot of development is making The Pinery increasingly
less remote, we must remain cognizant of the fact that small pets often fall
prey to coyotes and other predators in the area. Please keep your pets indoors
for their safety! Click on Pinery Wildlife for more
information on Coyotes and other wildlife in the Pinery.
Douglas County Pet
Ordinances:
A leash law requires that all dogs,
not on their owners’ property, to be on a leash. A barking ordinance is in
effect 24 hours a day. Animal neglect is also addressed by county ordinance; all
dogs must have adequate food, water and properly ventilated shelter providing
protection from weather. Although not mandated, cats should also be kept in
check. They are the single most responsible predator of wild birds. Click on
Animal Services
for more information from the Douglas County Animal Services brochure.
Address Numbers On
Your Home Are Important In Emergencies.
We see them every
day and know they are there… but do we really look at them the way emergency
personnel do? The address numbers we have on our home, or should have on our
homes, can mean the difference between life and death and minor or major damage
during emergencies. Put yourself in the shoes of the emergency crew. Can you
clearly see the address? If it were night, would a spotlight find the numbers
easily? For the sake of your family and your home, make sure your home’s address
is clearly visible from the street.
How Many Homeowners’ Associations are in
the local Pinery area?
How many homeowners’
associations are in the Pinery? This is a very good question and the answer can
become confusing. See Pinery HOA List for more
information.
Call Before
You Dig - Safety Tip.
Go to "Utilities" and
Call before you dig for
information on the Utility Notification Center of Colorado and the no cost
marking of underground utilities service. Severing power
or phone lines could - in an emergency - be a matter of life or death. Digging
into a natural gas or electric line is dangerous and can cause serious injury.
Remember that digging without locates is against the law, and you can be held
liable for any damage that occurs.
