Did you know that removing tree limbs, shrubs and brush from your property is essential for wildfire risk reduction? Good news – Douglas County provides a location to dispose of this unwanted slash.
Douglas County’s slash-mulch and Green Yard Waste site, at 5675 Delva Way, Sedalia, opened April 11 and will remain open on Saturdays only from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. through October 31. This is the perfect place to dispose of limbs, shrubs, brush and green waste. The site also gives residents the opportunity to go home with fresh mulch.
Acceptable items for slash site include: tree limbs, loose pine needles, shrubs, brush with a maximum length of 6 feet and maximum diameter of 12 inches. Please note all loads must be covered upon arrival to the slash-mulch site. ** Absolutely no dumping allowed Monday through Friday**
Unacceptable items for slash site include: appliances, compost, decorative wood chips, dirt, fencing, grass/hay, household trash, yard waste, leaves, lumber, pallets, railroad ties, pine cones, roots, stumps, weeds, yucca plants.
Acceptable items for “Green Yard Waste” Program" include: grass/hay, sod, leaves, sawdust, weeds and pine cones.
During open season a County operated loader will be available to load free wood chips for homeowners to use as mulch. Material can be picked up anytime during the season the site is open to accept slash.
